 Why EASI?

The current situation of the diagnostic of autoimmune diseases is suboptimal!

  • Communication between Clinicians and Laboratory has to be improved
In many cases, there is very little communication between clinicians and the laboratory. A stronger communication and cooperation network between the two groups would lead to a better and  faster diagnosis of patients. It also would reduce health care costs.

  • Testing algorithms are not standardised
There are no standardised algorithms used by the different laboratories for easing the rational use of laboratory tests. Such algorithms must be locally customised taking into account the various methods available and the results that can be derived by using these tests. A standardisation of testing algorithms in this way could lead to a more efficient usage of the assay systems.

  • International standards for test kits, methodology and use of results are needed
There are no international guidelines available on how to standardise Autoimmunity test kits. A common concept to standardise assay systems internationally could increase the clinical value of the test systems, improve the accuracy of the diagnosis and could guide the manufacturers of assay systems.
